December 2018 / January / February 2019 March / April / May 2019 East Palestine Library Receives Gift of Children’s Books East Palestine Memorial Public Library has received the gift of 100 new children’s books, ranging from pre-kindergarten through early readers. These books were a donation from the Brownstone Book Fund, a private foundation in New York City, interested in fostering early reading, a love of books, and encouraging parents and children to read together. This new collection of books will be on display in the children’s area, and will be featured during our storytime programs. Come to the library to explore and enjoy our new collection, and to share these books with the children in your life. Wild Mushrooms, A World of Wonder at our Feet Monday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. Learn about the fascinating world of mushrooms with Walt Sturgeon of East Palestine, a field mycologist with over 40 years of experience studying and identifying mushrooms. Walt’s new book, Mushrooms of the Appalachians will be available for purchase at the event. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Paper Shredding Event Saturday, April 27 10:00 a.m. to Noon Protect-N-Shred of Cortland, Ohio will provide the service. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the East Palestine Library. Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia Tuesday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. The Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter will present this program. Registration is necessary. Titanic, Tragedy of Errors Tuesday, March 26 at 6:00 p.m. Presenter Thomas Edward follows the life of the Titanic from the inception to build a passenger ship that was bigger and more luxurious than any ship afloat to the collision with the iceberg on April 14, 1912. Over 40 errors and circumstances will be discussed which led to a disaster that should not have occurred. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Registration is necessary. Friends of the Library Mother and Child Tea Party Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. Join the Friends of the Library for an afternoon of tea, sweets, and entertainment as you celebrate Spring with your children. The Tea will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. The tables will be set with beautiful luncheon plates, with delicious treats being served alongside black and green teas. To reserve a seat, call the library at 330-426-3778. Final Craft Supply Swap Saturday, March 2 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Join us for our final Craft Supply Swap. It's the perfect time to go through your craft stash and share what you no longer use with other crafters. We have already collected colorful yarns and fantastic scrapbooking materials for you to look through. Bring one bag or box for the bounty that you will take from the swap! If you can't make it to the swap, but still want to donate supplies, just drop them at the library during our regular business hours. Items that do not get claimed will be donated to charity.
