December 2018 / January / February 2019 December 2019 / January / February 2020 All Aboard The Polar Express- Tuesday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome to celebrate Christmas at the library on Tuesday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m. with a reading of the Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. Children are welcome to wear their pajamas. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served along with some fun activities and a visit from Santa Claus. All ages are invited to join us for the movie on Monday, December 23 at 1:00 p.m. Sinking of Scioto Steamboat Tuesday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m. Tim Brookes of the East Liverpool Historical Society will present a program on the sinking of the Scioto Steamboat which traveled on July 4, 1882 from Wellsville, Ohio to Moundsville, West Virginia. Find out how a happy excursion in local area history turned to a day of mourning and sadness. Other river accidents that have occurred in the Tristate area will also be discussed. Medicare Informational Program Tuesday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. A representative from OSHIIP (Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program) of the Ohio Department of Insurance will present a general overview about Medicare, and information for those signing up in 2020. She will also share information for those signing up for Medicare Advantage during open enrollment in January. “ALibrary is a Lifelong Friend” Color & B/W Copying, Self-Service Copying, Fax & Scanning Service, Lamination, Informational Databases, InterLibrary Loan, Homebound Delivery, and more. Gingerbread House Contest during the Snowflake Festival Visit the library during the Snowflake Festival to view the gingerbread house entries. Houses will be on display in the Community Room from Wednesday, December 4 th through Saturday, December 7 th . Prizes will be awarded for First and Second Place in Family and Individual categories along with a People’s Choice Award. The library will be open until 8:00 p.m. on December 7 th for the village festivities. Call the library for details at 330-426-3778. Journaling Program with Beverly Whalen– Fridays in January On four Fridays in January, we will be journaling at the library. The themes we will explore include: “my favorite scent,” “my favorite saying or verse,” “my favorite nickname or role that I play,” (i.e.. grandma), and “my enjoyment list.” Participants will need to bring the following materials: background paper, colored pencils, water colors (if desired) and paper, glue, tape, lettering or calligraphy pens. You may also bring photos to use, and a journal for your finished creation. Participants are also welcome to bring any items to go with their theme.
