YOUTH PROGRAMS AT THE EAST PALESTINE LIBRARY

Toddlertime

Toddlertime for children ages 2 to 3 years old and their parent or caregiver is held on Mondays at 10:30 a.m.  Registration is necessary.   Programs begin Monday, January 9 and end Monday, April 30.   Toddlertime will not be held on Monday, February 27.  

Preschool Storytime

Preschool Storytime for children ages 3 to 5 years old is held on Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m.   Registration is necessary.   Programs begin Tuesday, January 10 and end Tuesday, May 1.

Book Buddies

Book Buddies is held on Mondays at 4:15 p.m.   Children in Kindergarten to 4th grade are paired with older buddies to read together.  Fun activities and crafts are also offered.   Registration is necessary.  Programs begin Monday, January 9 and end Monday, April 30.   Book Buddies will not be held on Monday, February 20 or Monday, February 27.  ildren's Corner

Movietime in the Community Room

On Monday, February 20, Presidents' Day, movie fans of all ages are welcome to attend a movie in the community room at 1:00 p.m.  We will show the new movie "Treasure Buddies."  Refreshments will be served.'s Corner

Pajama Storytime

Pajama Storytime will be held on Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m.   The program will feature stories about farms.   Children are invited to wear their pajamas and to bring a stuffed animal.Children's Corner

A few months ago children from Ohio were asked to vote for their favorite children's book to win the Buckeye Book Award.   The 2011 winners have been announced.

Young Adult Read-Alikes

"Read-Alikes" are books or authors with similar subjects or styles.  In the past, we have featured a young adult author or book in the newsletter.   This year a particular type of book, author, or genre will be featured along with recommended titles to try.

In honor of Valentine's Day, this month's list includes stories about romance and dating.   All of these titles are available in the young adult area of the library.

Are you looking for a fun activity to participate in after school?  Do you like arts and crafts?   The library is looking for volunteers to participate in Book Buddies on Mondays at 4:15 p.m. and to help prepare crafts for upcoming children's programs.   If you would like to participate in either activity, please contact Noreen at the library.

Travel  Tote

Going on vacation?  The library is pleased to offer the Travel Tote for children.  Each tote has a theme and will contain 5 to 10 items.  When possible it will contain books, audiobooks, and books with read-along cassettes.  Totes can be borrowed for two weeks.  Contact the library to reserve your tote today!
